Liverpool’s lack of final-day drama ‘completely new’ to boss Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits he is struggling to process having nothing to play for on the final day of the season.

A year on from missing out on an unprecedented quadruple his side head to already-relegated Southampton knowing they will finish fifth irrespective of results on Sunday.

That has already started to come into his thoughts for his team selection, after confirming it “makes sense” to make changes, but he is confident his side will finish on a high.

“I am not used to games on the last matchday when everything is sorted. I am used to games when everything is at stake but we play this game to win the game,” he said.

Prediction: Poland vs Netherlands

Best odds: 21/20

Bookmaker:

Poland and Netherlands are set to do battle on Thursday evening at the Polish National Stadium in Warsaw, in a match within round five of League A Group 4 of the 2022/24 Nations League. The significance of these matches may appear fainter than usual given the proximity of the upcoming World Cup, but from the perspective of the teams themselves, they are all the more important as the players and coaches seek to build competitive form ahead of the tournament in Qatar.

Poland

Poland opened their Nations League campaign with a win at home against Wales, but since then, they ve only managed another point by drawing 2-2 away to Netherlands. They were smashed 6-1 away to Belgium and lost to that opponent at home as well, by 0-1. The four po…

Cech issues Premier League warning to Arsenal rival Leno

Bernd Leno s eight Bundesliga seasons will count for little in adapting to the Premier League, according to Arsenal team-mate and goalkeeping rival Petr Cech.

Leno, 26, signed from Bayer Leverkusen for a reported £19.2million in June but is yet to learn from head coach Unai Emery whether he will be first choice.

The Germany international is locked in a fight to dislodge Cech, who has been the Gunners number one for the past three seasons, and the former Chelsea man has warned him not to underestimate the rigours of English football.

There are so many things that a goalkeeper coming to the Premier League has not experienced in a different league, said Cech, as quoted by The London Evening Standard.

Obviously you have the physicality and the way the game…

An elated Kevin Trapp declared Wednesday the best day of his career, after Eintracht Frankfurt defeated Rangers in the Europa League final.

After winning everything domestically in France over three seasons with Paris Saint-Germain, this is Trapp s first silverware with Eintracht Frankfurt over two stints at the club, only returning after their DFB Pokal win in 2018.

The 31-year-old was named player of the match and could not hide his joy, helping the German club win their first European trophy since 1980.

I don’t have any words for that, Trapp said post-match. I ve tried to find …

However, Atletico were thumped 4-0 by Lucien Favre s forward-thinking, exciting Borussia Dortmund side in their previous Champions League outing.

Simeone is the most successful coach in Atletico s history with seven trophies since taking over in 2011 and indicated he has no intention of changing his ways after one negative result.

Football is marvellous and there are countless ways to play and to win. You have to choose one and we believe in ours because of our players attributes…
