Lucas Hernandez has signed a new four-year deal at Atletico Madrid.

The French defender came through the club s academy and played 16 first-team matches last season, including the Champions League final defeat to rivals Real Madrid in May.

Hernandez had been a regular in Atleti s reserve team since 2014, while making a number of youth international appearances for France.

Upon securing a contract to keep him at the Vicente Calderon until 2020, the 20-year-old expressed his delight.

West Ham have completed the club-record signing of Sebastien Haller from Eintracht Frankfurt for a reported fee of £45million.

The Premier League side agreed a deal on Tuesday with Frankfurt, who granted Haller permission to travel to London for a medical.

Christian Benteke admits he was wrong to hand in a transfer request at Aston Villa and is delighted he opted to remain with the club.

The Belgium international striker scored 19 goals in 34 Premier League games in an excellent debut season for Villa in 2012-13.

However, Benteke s future at Villa Park looked in doubt when he asked to leave the club in July 2013.

World Cup winner Fabio Grosso has been tasked with guiding Verona back to Serie A next season after agreeing a two-year contract with the Gialloblu.

Grosso – who scored the penalty that saw Italy crowned world champions in 2006 – makes the move having coached Bari in Serie B during 2017-18, the club finishing seventh.

They failed to get through the play-offs, though, despite a 2-2 draw with Cittadella, the latter progressing from the preliminary round due to a better league position.
