No disciplinary action facing new England Women´s coach Neville

New England Women s manager Phil Neville will not face disciplinary action after apologising for controversial social media posts, the Football Association (FA) has confirmed.

Neville deleted his Twitter account shortly after his appointment was confirmed on Tuesday, when historic tweets resurfaced that were criticised as being sexist.

Kick It Out, a prominent organisation aimed at promoting equality and inclusion in football, expressed concerns over the former Manchester United defender s appointment.

But in a letter replying to Kick It Out posted on Twitter, FA chief executive Martin Glenn said checks on Neville had been carried out before he was given the job.

The background vetting highlighted some but not all the historic social media comments that …

Eriksen one of Premier League´s best – Pochettino

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino labelled Christian Eriksen as one of the best creative players in the Premier League and believes White Hart Lane is the perfect place for his talent to flourish.

Eriksen arrived from Ajax in August 2013 and he has developed into one of Spurs key figures during his near four years in north London.

The 24-year-old endured a slow start to the current campaign, but has enjoyed an upturn of form and his five goals and eight assists have helped Tottenham to third in the Premier League.

Pochettino insists there is still plenty of room for improvement, but has been delighted with Eriksen s contribution to the team.

I think Eriksen is one of the best creative players in the Premier League, Pochettino told reporters ahead of Sat…

West Brom 1 Southampton 2: Rondon stunner in vain as Baggies drop out

West Brom s difficult week off the pitch culminated in disappointing fashion on it as Alan Pardew s side crashed out of the FA Cup fifth round with a 2-1 defeat to fellow Premier League strugglers Southampton.

Pardew s preparations for Saturday s encounter had been marred by the actions of Jonny Evans, Gareth Barry, Jake Livermore and Boaz Myhill, who were reportedly interviewed by Spanish police after they allegedly stole a taxi during the club s training camp in Barcelona.

Evans and Barry nevertheless started at the Hawthorns, but the hosts were up against it from the 11th minute when Wesley Hoedt capitalised on dreadful defending to volley home from James Ward-Prowse s corner.

Flick ´not entirely happy´ with Bayern display in 4-0 win

Hansi Flick can still see room for improvement from his Bayern Munich side despite brushing aside Schalke 4-0 to move seven points clear at the top of the Bundesliga.

The reigning champions capitalised on RB Leipzig s shock defeat at Mainz by seeing off Schalke, the division s bottom side, at the Veltins-Arena on Sunday.

Thomas Muller scored either side of Robert Lewandowski s record-breaking goal netting in an eighth successive away league match before David Alaba got in on the act in the final minute.

Bayern did not have things all their own way in the first half, though, with Manuel Neuer reacting well to keep out Mark Uth s header from the best of Schalke s opportunities.
