Rangnick says Rashford free to leave United if game-time is a problem

Ralf Rangnick denied Marcus Rashford has not had enough game-time under him, with Manchester United’s interim manager stating the forward is free to consider leaving in the summer if he wishes.

The 24-year-old is thinking about whether to depart because he is unhappy at his number of minutes since Rangnick took over in November. Rashford did not start Sunday’s 4-1 loss at Manchester City, which was the fourth consecutive league match he has been a substitute, though he was in the XI that drew at Atlético Madrid a fortnight ago. In all Rashford has made 10 starts and been a replacement four times under the German.

There will never be no wrong VAR calls – but is having refs in charge the right one?

I will love it if we beat them. You can’t win anything with kids. When the seagull follows the trawler. I am a special one. Time to add another unforgettable line to the history of the Premier League: “That’s wrong that, Daz.”

Four words of agonising paralysis from the VAR room. By the end it sounds like the black box recording of pilot and co-pilot careering into a mountain: “Can’t do anything.” “No.” “I can’t do anything.” Three seconds of silence. “[Expletive].”

In the middle of it, the superhero we never knew we needed – Mo Abby, the artist formerly known as UNNAMED REPLAY OPERATOR. “Are you happy with this?” he asks politely as the crisis unfolds in front of his eyes. Something…

Red Sox RHP Garrett Whitlock (elbow) to miss remainder of 2024

Boston Red Sox right-hander Garrett Whitlock told reporters on Saturday that he miss the remainder of the season to undergo an elbow procedure. Whitlock, 27, is set to undergo an internal brace procedure that has a one-year recovery time as opposed to the potential 15-month recovery time from Tommy John surgery. He had a Tommy John procedure done in 2019 when he was a minor leaguer in the New York Yankees' system. Whitlock originally went on the injured list in April with an oblique injury. He made just four starts this season, going 1-0 with a 1.96 ERA in 18 1/3 innings. He last appeared in a game on April 16. In four seasons with Boston, Whitlock is 18-11 with a 3.39 ERA in 103 appearances (23 starts). –Field Level Media …

2022 Rookie wide receiver ranking Week 3: Chris Olave, Drake London, and Garrett Wilson show out

Last season we did our weekly rookie quarterback tracker, but with only one taken in the first round of 2022, we’ve moved onto another highly coveted position. For 2022 we’ll keep track of all six first-round wide receivers and their progress throughout the year. Some of our first-round rookies are already off to the races and contributing heavily to their teams. One exception on the list for at least another couple of weeks is Detroit Lions first-round pick Jameson Williams, from Alabama. Williams tore his ACL in last year’s National Championship game but is on track to make his debut for the Lions (1-2) this season. Let’s check out this year’s group of rookie first-rounders. Why Your Team Sucks 2016: San Diego Chargers

Some people are fans of the San Diego Chargers. But many, many more people are NOT fans of the San Diego Chargers. This 2016 Deadspin NFL team preview is for those in the latter group. Read all the previews so far here. And buy Drew’s new book here. Your team: Los Angele… NO WAIT! San Diego! Yep, still the San Diego Chargers. Pretty awkward. Your 2015 record: 4-12, the highlight of which was a 30-14 blowout of the Dolphins that would have made for a heartwarming final game in San Diego… if it had actually BEEN the final game in San Diego. Now we have to do it all over again, with San Diego forced to choose between tentatively saying goodbye to the Chargers one more time or chipping in over a BILLION dollars for a new stadium. I’m all for loyalty, but if I were a Chargers fa…

Live Blog: Let Us Enjoy The 2013 NBA Draft Together

The 2013 NBA draft is here, and, as usual, we have almost no idea what is going to happen over the course of the night. Will the Nets and Celtics consummate a trade sending old people to Brooklyn? Is someone going to take an injured player—either Nerlens Noel or Alex Len, either one works—at No. 1? Are the Bobcats gonna do something to make Twitter users make fun of Michael Jordan? (Okay, that's happening.) I'll be around and live-blogging as we go, and I will make fun of your team. If you see something worth sharing with the world—a suit, an exchange, a girlfriend pecking a player on the cheek, David Stern calling the Pelicans the Hornets— send an email, or leave a comment, or something. I'll be here! 7:39 p.m.: Bill Simmons, working the draft for the first tim…

James Harden is Having the Best Scoring Season in NBA History

data-mm-id=”_al0drp16s”>James Harden is currently averaging 38.5 points per game this season. On Wednesday he had a 41-point triple-double in a Rockets win over the Atlanta Hawks. It's just the latest insane game in what is is arguably the greatest scoring season in NBA history.Harden is averaging a career-high and he leads the league's second-leading scorer, Giannis Antetonkounmpo, by 8.3 points per game. It is the most points anyone has averaged since Michael Jordan averaged a career-high 37.1 points per game during the '86-'87 season. Before Jordan, you have to go all the way back to Wilt Chamberlain averaging 44.8 points in the '62-'63 season. No one ever averaged 35 points per game in the ABA.As it stands, Harden is averaging the fourth-most points pe…

Todd McShay: Jarrett Stidham is Not Ready to Lead Patriots

data-mm-id=”_bt9kp35pw”>As the league year progresses and the NFL draft grows ever-closer, it's become clear the New England Patriots will not be looking for a quick-fix answer at quarterback in 2020. The time to trade for Andy Dalton or sign Cam Newton seems to have come and gone. This means Jarrett Stidham will get his opportunity to take the starting job. It is admittedly hard to feel optimistic about his chances. He was a fourth-round pick in 2019 after an underwhelming final season at Auburn where he completed only 60 percent of his passes for 2,794 yards and 18 touchdowns to pair with five interceptions. Stidham looked good enough in the preseason (731 yards, four touchdowns, and an interception on a 67 percent completion rate) to win sole ownership of the backup quarterback…
